DESCRIPTION

Team Responsibilities

The purpose of the Product Management team is to provide business requirements for new and existing Semafone products and to bring new innovations into reality. It will be essential to be vigilant that the product requirement is fully specified and secure, deployable and supportable and passionate about ensuring that the user (agent and end customer) experience is best in class. To build relationships based on trust across the business, ensuring that all the necessary sales and marketing collateral is planned and delivered to support Sales and Marketing activities.  Always striving for excellence and pushing the boundaries of product innovation by stretching the team’s capabilities.

The scope of this team’s test responsibilities includes:-

  • Semafone Product Business requirements definition,
  • User Journey definition for optimised user experience
  • Semafone Product Release definition
  • Understanding functional, non-functional, security, deployment and supportability needs for products
  • Manage all product requests (from all channels)

The Role

As Head of Product Management, you will be responsible for all Products and Services within the Semafone portfolio.  This extends from increasing the profitability of existing products to developing new features and benefits to existing products or completing new products and services for the company.  This role is both technical and business facing, and you should be analytical, creative and comfortable driving strategy, leading meetings and developing a team.

You will build products from existing ideas, develop concepts delivered out of the Innovation process, you will also be expected to develop new ideas based on your industry experience and your contact with customers and prospects. You must possess a unique blend of business and technical savvy; a big-picture vision, and the drive to make that vision a reality. You must enjoy spending time in the market to understand their problems and provide innovative solutions for the broader industry.

You must be able to communicate internally with all areas of the company, and externally with prospects, customers, and partners. You will work with a growing team comprising of Technical Product Management, Product Marketing as well as the engineering function to define product release requirements. You will support marketing communications to create product marketing plans, launch packs, and consult on the go-to-market strategy, helping them understand the product positioning, key benefits and target customer. You will also serve as the internal and external evangelist for your product offering, occasionally working with the sales channel and key customers.

This role will manage a team of 2 where you will define the direction, the training and development plan, set the expectations and ensure that the team delivers. We aim to promote from within where possible, therefore you’ll need to ensure that we’re looking to develop outstanding talent by stretching the team to their maximum potential.

This position requires occasional travel to customer and non-customer sites in North America and Europe. 

This role works collaboratively with:

  • The Development Technical Leads
  • The Programme Manager within the Semafone Technology Office
  • The Platform Architecture team, and
  • The Programme Manager from the Innovation Team

Responsibilities

  • Managing the entire product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
  • Defining the international product strategy and roadmap to shape Semafone’s North American marketplace
  • Specifying market requirements for current and future products by conducting market research supported by on-going visits to customers and non-customers
  • Driving a solution set across development teams (primarily Development / Engineering and Marketing Communications) through market requirements, product contract and positioning
  • Developing and implementing a company-wide go-to-market plan, working with all departments to engage and execute
  • Recommending the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product changes.
  • Bringing new products to market by analysing proposed product requirements and product development programs.
  • Introduce and market new products by developing time-integrated plans with sales, advertising, and production.
  • Determining product pricing by utilising market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customised orders.
  • Complete operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Retire products through a professionally staged end-of-life process, engaging and consulting with all interested teams
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Present product roadmaps and capability to professional audiences at industry events.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidate requirements

  • 5+ years of software marketing / product management experience
  • Knowledgeable in telephony and security technologies
  • Experience in working within the payment space (ideally FinTech)
  • Computer Science or Engineering degree or work experience a strong advantage
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to sell your vision across all levels of an organisation
  • Experience with product / solution lifecycle processes
  • Ability to travel internationally (specifically North America)
