FrontEnd Developer - Integrations Team


The TeamDue to Semafone's ongoing success in winning new business, the Customer Integration Team requires an additional Frontend/Javascript Engineer to fulfil its commercial obligations.

Semafone's Customer Integration Team is responsible for producing two types of deliverable:

  1. Browser based Capture and Results pages
  2. Integration clients that execute financial transactions using external Payment Services Providers (PSP's)

Capture pages are used to initiate Semafone's secure card detail retrieval process and to submit transactions to a third party PSP via our payment integrations. The results pages display the outcome of the transactions. These pages are often designed to mimic what a call center agent would see using their own existing CRM system prior to adopting the Semafone solution. 

Semafone's payment integrations communicate with external PSP's using web-services (e.g. SOAP and REST).  These integrations are written in Java and are hosted by a bespoke piece of software known as the Payment Module. Semafone has developed integrations with over 40 different PSP's and is constantly adding more. 


  • Developing capture pages and results pages from initial requirements through to delivery and support.
  • Coding Semafone's capture pages using HTML, Javascript, JQuery and CSS. 
  • Testing own work to ensure that solutions meet the customer's requirements and Semafone's quality standards prior to handover to the QA Team. This will include cross-browser testing. 
  • Performing code reviews on work produced by colleagues.
  • Collaborate closely with Semafone's technical services to determine requirements and to advise on how best to implement those requirements. This will encompass new projects, extensions to existing functionality and pre-sales. 
  • From time to time, provide troubleshooting services in response to support issues. 


  • Experience working as a front-end engineer on web pages or applications using native JavaScript, JQuery, HTML, XML, JSON and CSS.
  • Experience of Linux, GIT, mobile technologies and payment services will be an advantage but are not mandatory.
  • Experience of testing and debugging web pages. 
  • Experience of cross browser testing and understanding accessibility issues in older browsers.
  • Comfortable working in a commercial agile development environment. 
  • Knowledge of version control and CI/CD best practices will be advantageous. 
  • Evidence of having delivered to tight deadlines and taken ownership of tasks and code.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with people of differing technical capabilities both verbally and in documentation. 
  • Having customer-facing experience will be advantageous but not necessary.
